A&M, a top-ranked consulting firm, wanted to create a consistently outstanding onboarding experience across EMEA. However, the complexity of their operations, with 32 divisions, 35 locations, 25 grades, and 23 countries, made this a daunting task.

However, the complexity of their operations, with 32 divisions, 35 locations, 25 grades, and 23 countries, made this a daunting task. Each new hire’s onboarding involved multiple stakeholders, leading to a process that was inconsistent, confusing, and time-consuming. This lack of engagement and clarity resulted in high early attrition and issues at probation.

To tackle these challenges, A&M partnered with Eli to streamline and enhance their onboarding process. The project teams engaged with stakeholders across all divisions to understand their unique needs and define a consistent, adaptable process. The solution centered around a personalized onboarding portal, welcome.alvarezandmarsal.com, which managed the complex requirements and provided a seamless experience for new hires.

"Everything in A&M is about networking and connections. Eli allows our new hires to do all that before they've even joined." – A&M

Each new hire was assigned a dedicated HR Business Partner, IT support, Office Manager, and a Business Admin from their division. This team ensured that new hires felt supported and connected from day one. The portal facilitated pre-day one engagement, helping new hires build knowledge and connections early on. And, a two-way integration with Workday ensured smooth data flow, reducing administrative burdens and errors.

The results were impressive. Since launch, A&M's new portal has hit a 95% engagement rate. The average session time on the portal is over 11 minutes, indicating high engagement, and people log in over 11 times on average to engage, learn and interact. Positive feedback from new hires and a significant reduction in early attrition highlighted the success of the new onboarding process. Employee turnover dropped significantly, saving the business substantial costs, and the operations team saved 16 people-days per month in onboarding-related admin tasks. Additionally, 97% of new hires felt Eli equipped them for their first day.

A&M’s new onboarding experience not only simplified a complex process but also created a more connected and engaged workforce, setting a new standard for onboarding excellence.
